Topographic Design Surveys The quality and completeness of information provided by the surveyor directly affects the quality of the engineer’s design. These plans, in turn, directly affect the ease and efficiency of the construction process for residential developments, commercial projects, and public infrastructure improvements. Parametrix has developed seemless "field to finish" mapping techniques for producing design basemaps in various formats for the client. Boundary and Cadastral Surveys The process of surveying property boundaries requires skills in records research, analytical thinking, and applying physical evidence gained in the field. Our professional surveyors have a combined experience of over 100 years in the retracement of all types of boundaries and rights-of-way involving both metes and bounds and the Public Lands System. GPS and RTK Control and Mapping Surveys Parametrix has state-of-the-art equipment, training, and experience for GPS operations. We aggressively use this technology where appropriate for applications ranging from establishment of horizontal and vertical control to construction surveying, saving our clients time and money. We have a full-time GPS coordinator on staff who is extremely acknowledgeable in the various State Plane Coordinate Systems and is our technology expert responsible for training and quality assurance Route and Right-of-Way Determination Through our "on-call" contract experience with WSDOT and many local agencies, we have become thoroughly knowledgeable in right-of-way mapping standards and local agency guidelines for city and county projects. We specialize in right-of-way research and analysis and preparation of plans and legal description exhibits for the acquisition process. Route surveys include recreational trails and abandoned railroad rights-of-way. We are also familiar with various funding sources and can assist our clients with the associated requirements. Environmental Support and Mapping We provide many types of environmentally oriented surveying services in support of our Natural Resources Program and on-call contract with the Environmental Protection Agency as well as many external clients. These services include wetland mapping, slide monitoring, drainage and elevation surveys, well location surveys, photogrammetric control for aerial mapping, topographic surveys for reclamation, utility mapping, and forensic surveys for insurance claims. Legal Descriptions and Reports Parametrix has years of experience in the analysis and preparation of legal descriptions, easements, and related documents for reports regarding the apparent status of unwritten title, preparation of exhibits for litigation support, utility easements, bills-of-sale, road maintenance agreements for new development, 50-year chain-of-title research for environmental assessments, and legal descriptions for new property segregations. Litigation Support For many years, our professional surveyors have provided services to attorneys specializing in land-use issues. Our support involves research, analysis, and preparation of exhibits and reports for adverse possession claims, easement issues, planning and zoning, and assistance in clarification of state laws relating to surveying of boundaries. Upon providing this preliminary support, we provide expert witness testimony as necessary. Asset/Data Management (Inventory Mapping) This service involves the gathering of data on existing property conditions, such as boundaries, topography, planimetry, utilities, and facilities inventory including existing paper records and preparing current electronic documentation for the clients’ particular uses. Methods used to gather data may include conventional and GPS field surveying, CADD drafting, interpolation of various horizontal and vertical datums, records research and analysis, and integration with GIS records. ALTA and ACSM Surveys Parametrix provides ALTA and ACSM surveying services, which are specialized, very comprehensive surveys typically requested by lending agencies as part of mortgage transactions for commercial and industrial properties. The purpose of these surveys is to accurately depict the property boundary configuration, record easements, and interior and adjacent improvements affecting the property. Our surveyors are very thorough when completing the unique requirements of these surveys. Subdivisions and Platting Real property is segregated by various methods including long plats, short plats, large lot subdivisions, binding site plans, boundary line adjustments, and condominiums. Although the general rules for these segregations are prescribed by state law, special requirements can and do vary from one local jurisdiction to another. Our surveyors and land use planners are intimately familiar with these processes and regulations. We act as the liaison between the client and the public agency to guide projects through the approval process.
