Parametrix

Employee-Owners of the Year 2007

Ashley H.

Ashley H.
Company-Wide Employee Owner of the Year (Bellevue)

Ashley's compassion for her fellow-employee owners and willingness to collaborate is seen in all she does. She commits her time and energy to several company committees and loves organizing birthday celebrations and going away parties for co-workers. She collaborates with people across the office in preparing creative, thorough proposals.  And I see her integrity every time she's faced with a last minute proposal and makes sure to have it proofread by an editor so our potential clients see the best face of Parametrix. Her good attitude and willing involvement in so many aspects of work at Parametrix make her an ideal employee-owner.

Ashley takes employee-ownership seriously in her commitment to so many aspects of our company. She serves simultaneously as an EOC representative, 401(k) committee representative, and spearheading member (and great encourager) of the Bellevue Wellness Committee.

Jennifer H. Jennifer H.
Albuquerque Office Employee Owner of the Year

Jennifer acts like she owns the company! She has taken ownership of the cost side of the Albuquerque office budget and is always looking for ways to spend more wisely. She genuinely cares about the success of each project that she supports and the clients that we serve. She often calls to offer assistance when she knows there is a deadline and is very helpful with project management tasks to make sure that our projects stay on track. She takes on tasks often without solicitation. She is always thinking ahead and anticipating what we need next. She demonstrates incredible initiative, and in a small shop like Albuquerque, this leadership is invaluable to the success of the office.
Cebelin R.

Cebelin R.
Boise Office Employee Owner of the Year

Cebelin is a person of high principle. Her personal code of conduct carries over into the workplace as she demonstrates a degree of integrity that we can only strive to emulate. As the office administrator and project assistant, Cebelin is faced with a multitude of tasks that vary on any given day. Displays of compassion and humility are prevalent as she is always ready to offer a helping hand to a fellow colleague. Cebelin always puts others needs ahead of her own needs. She is a key member of our office and facilitates the Boise office’s ability to collaborate internally and across offices.

As an employee-owner, Cebelin takes great pride and commitment in striving to put the core values of Parametrix into action. As a member of the Boise Leadership Team, she has embraced her role as a leader in the firm. In team meetings, Cebelin is always an active participant and makes valuable contributions to the discussions at hand.

Melody W.

Melody W.
Bremerton Office Employee Owner of the Year

Melody represents Parametrix in the finest light as the first face, first voice, and first smile a client, peer or fellow employee-owner encounters when they arrive in Bremerton. She arrives early, stopping to pick up doughnuts or bagels to set up for early meetings, and making sure the office looks perfect to show the Bremerton office in the best possible light. If an employee-owner from another office is working in Bremerton, Melody offers assistance to make sure they have a space and everything they need to work comfortably.

Melody serves as the “traffic control” for the entire office. She collaborates daily with the admin team, to make sure deliverables go out in a timely manner, and offering whatever help is needed to make it happen – whether a quick delivery label is needed, printing documents, or just moral support.  She makes it her business to know enough about our projects to be able to put clients and employee-owners from other offices in touch with the people they need.

Rick C.

Rick C.
Auburn (Corporate) Office Employee Owner of the Year

Rick has demonstrated continual concern for the professional and personal well-being and development of his employees. Rick’s leadership has brought a collaborative and open environment that the Information Technology department has long been starved for.

Rick also showed exceptional collaboration in the design and implementation of our new data center, our new network, planning and supporting the corporate move, and the progress thus far on the Outlook migration project. He has ensured that a broad group of people - including internal and external parties - have been engaged at the right times and in the right ways in those projects, and the results speak for themselves with very successful implementations!

Beth T.

Beth T.
Denver Office Employee Owner of the Year

Beth is a bridge engineer by experience, but was asked to stretch her skill set and help out on some structural design for a tramway project in the Denver office. She took on the challenge and worked efficiently and effectively with the Automated People Mover (APM) group in the office to design and produce plans for the project. Beth's background brought skills and knowledge to the project that the APM group did not have and they were able to share with Beth their process of design which was much more open-ended than the typical bridge design. The project was a success.

In the last few months, Beth has put forth an extraordinary effort on a pedestrian bridge project for a new client to the Denver office. Beth really adds value to Parametrix and has been an integral part of the Denver office's growth into new markets.

Jennifer C.

Jennifer C.
Hood Canal Project Office Employee Owner of the Year

Jennifer shows compassion daily by caring about the personal lives of her coworkers.  Jennifer practices collaboration by participating in the many facets of the Hood Canal Bridge Project. Her role as the document control specialist entangles her in every group, i.e., business, design, admin, contracts, etc. She collaborates with each of these groups to ensure proper documentation processes are being followed. Jennifer demonstrates the utmost integrity. She works every hour that she bills, with no supervision required.

Jennifer’s client service is superior. Whatever the client needs, she does her utmost to provide, whether it is help with a computer application, tracking down project documentation or a random request outside of her responsibility. Jennifer is a model of a hardworking, faithful, employee.

Chrissy B.

Chrissy B.
Lacey Office Employee Owner of the Year

Chrissy exemplifies collaboration on a daily basis. Both in working with her co-workers here in Lacey as well as working with the Bellevue, Bremerton and Sumner Offices. She also works collaboratively with her clients. While this may seem like a no-brainer, one of her clients recently commented on how much he appreciates the way she keeps him involved and informed throughout each step of the project…something he had not experienced working with similar firms.

Chrissy provides great customer service to both her internal and external clients. She is always helpful and willing to answer questions or help navigate confusing municipal codes. Additionally, she always works to keep her client’s best interests in mind by offering creative solutions and helping them navigate the always challenging permitting/agency approval processes.

Deborah M. Deborah M.
PERL (Albany) Office Employee Owner of the Year

As each new person comes to the lab with no idea what they are about to face, Deborah always approaches the newcomer with exceeding patience and understanding that helps them overcome any apprehensions. In our everyday work at PERL, collaboration is a constant and necessary part of the job as we trade between tests and share responsibilities this way and that, and Deborah has always been willing to pick up the slack when others felt overwhelmed. Deborah's collaborative spirit is also clearly shown by her willingness to become PERL's first EOC representative. Throughout the year, Deborah has also participated in PERL's charitable work with helping buy gifts for our adopted family in Corvallis, which also demonstrates a strong spirit of compassion.
Jennifer H.

Jennifer H.
Portland Office Employee Owner of the Year

Jennifer exhibits collaboration, integrity, and compassion in everything she does at Parametrix. She is always willing to help out on projects, whether stepping in as the lead in a major interview, helping out with reports or simply providing her insight on a particular issue. Jen’s compassion shows in her role as “minister of philanthropy” in the planning division. She has organized volunteer efforts at OPB, volunteers with SMART, and is always looking for ways that the division and the company can help out in the community.

Jennifer also knows that client service is the key to our success. Jennifer provides high quality service to our clients, whether she is writing new environmental code, developing environmental documents or creating a new downtown plan. Jennifer has served as deputy project manager on very large projects, such as Bridges, where she kept the team organized and motivated, to smaller projects where she has managed the day to day operations of the project. In each case Jennifer has received great comments from both our clients as well as her teammates. Jennifer provides great service with a great attitude.

Shannon P.

Shannon P.
SR 520 Office Employee Owner of the Year

Shannon is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Organization Development.  She is doing this while working full time on the SR 520 project as a lead traffic planner.  As part of her master's program she is endeavoring to help Parametrix as a firm to find that key quality that drives our culture and provides our identity.  She is researching what our clients say about us as well as what we say about ourselves as part of our marketing and presentation materials.  She is reaching out to many different people within the firm beyond her own area of expertise and presenting what she is learning to a wide variety of people.  This is helping us all understand our firm better and think more clearly about who we are and what we are about.

As the transportation planning manager, Shannon has stepped up to lead the Catastrophic Failure Planning Traffic Management Plan.  There are no examples of plans of this magnitude available to model, so Shannon is using her skills and staff to develop a new and exciting plan for the State.  She has also represented the State’s interest at several meetings with jurisdictional leaders in an effort to collaboratively develop regional plans that would address how to react in the event of an SR 520 bridge failure.  Shannon’s attention to meeting agendas and her effective meeting facilitation skills helped to keep all of the meetings on target to a successful completion.
Jennifer D.

Jennifer D.
Sumner Office Employee Owner of the Year

Jennifer has proven her compassion for her fellow employee-owners by taking the time to assist new members with the transition into the company, and by going out of her way to make them feel welcome. She considers their goals and interests and involves them in projects geared toward those goals. She has shown her integrity in her dealings with the City of Pacific by looking out for the best interest of the City. Her actions demonstrate not only her integrity, but also her desire to provide the best client service to the City.

Jennifer is an outstanding example of an employee-owner. Our external, as well as internal clients all have confidence that she knows her stuff.
