Briggs Village – Olympia, WA
Parametrix provided surveying, civil engineering, planning, permitting and transportation design services in support of the preliminary plat for the Briggs Village master planned development. Briggs Village will include 133 single-family lots, 204 multi-family units, 42 duplexes, and 82 townhomes as well as 250,000 square feet of commercial/office space. The project will be constructed in multiple phases over a ten-year period. During the master plan process, Parametrix assisted the architectural team in developing the internal circulation and access system, the preliminary utility layouts, and conceptual storm drainage and grading plans. Nisqually Glacier Monitoring Surveys – Mt. Rainier National Park, WA
This project has been an annual endeavor for the National Park Service in conjunction with the United States Forest Service and the Nisqually Tribe. Each fall since 1991, surveyors have measured the ice-surface altitude and movement of the Nisqually Glacier above Paradise Lodge. Three cross sections of the glacier are surveyed from separate USGS instrument control stations located between 5,600 feet and 7,000 feet (1,700m to 2,130m). Mt. Rainier Park guide service personnel assist by traversing the glacier while the survey crew collects data by electronic distance measuring units. Subsequent to collection of field data, plan and profile maps are updated with new information and provided to the park service for a variety of studies including measurements of annual precipitation and global warming.

SR 522/ Snohomish River to Monroe – King County, WA
This project involves the widening of a 4.5-mile portion of a state highway, and construction of improvements to five bridges. The project included the mapping of the entire right-of-way throughout the corridor, including SR 2 and the Burlington Northern/ Santa Fe Railroad at the terminus and several other significant cross streets. Mapping includes all utilities, topography and planimetry, and section ties, as well as analysis of survey data and right-of-way alignment resolution. In support of the environmental assessment, survey crews mapped over 40 wetland areas with associated streams, surveying 500 feet up and downstream in all areas. Eight cross-sections along the Snohomish River and its confluence with the Skykomish River were surveyed at the direction of the project hydrologist. The survey also included location and mapping horizontal and vertical positions of 30 groundwater wells. Survey methods include both GPS/RTK and conventional methods. Resulting information was processed in CaiCE and Microstation format. Subsequent to preparation of the design basemap, a Record of Survey was prepared verifying the centerline and right-of-way alignments of the highway.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge QA/QC Survey – Tacoma, WA
This project involved a comprehensive records research and field control survey to independently calculate the various alignments and right-of-way configuration for SR 16, as depicted on the "Right-of-way and Limited Access Plan – Jackson Ave. Vic. To 36th St. NW Vic." The project involves processing field data, generated by GPS fast-static and conventional methods, and analyzing existing right-of-way and section monumentation related to plan dimensions and calculating the mathematical configuration of the published right-of-way, based upon the field survey. Any discrepancies between field ties and dimensions published on the plan will be reported. Existing outer limits of constructed improvements (top and/or toe of slope) will be mapped and the location of these physical limits in relation to the SR 16 right-of-way will be verified. The limits of mapping under this task assignment include the roadway widening limits on both sides of SR 16, and the on/off ramps at several interchanges. The field survey data will be translated into CaiCE format with the elements on the correct levels per state standards. A narrative report will be prepared, documenting all procedures and findings of the field survey activities.
