READER-FRIENDLY WORKSHOP
Why Reader-Friendly?
Environmental documents have become too technical and lengthy to effectively inform the public and decision-makers of project effects and benefits. The environmental process is a critical stage for most projects, especially those with widespread public interest. There is frustration at all levels about the way NEPA documents are written, and most people agree that they have become too cumbersome to effectively communicate with the public and decision-makers.
What is it?
The goal of the workshop is to help you produce written documents that are easier to read and understand. The workshop is based on the provided textbook, Style: Ten Lessons in Clarity and Grace, by Joseph Williams. In addition, the workshops will go beyond the textbook into issues of particular value to your staff and consultants: writing clearly, communicating complex information, and writing for diff erent audiences.
Who will be presenting?
The Reader-Friendly Workshop presenters include Dr. Chris Ridout, David Mattern, AICP, and Stephanie Miller.
