05.02.17 SR 520 Floating Bridge Receives Project of the Year Award from APWA Washington

Seattle, WA – The SR 520 Floating Bridge was named APWA Washington Chapter’s Project of the Year for Transportation Projects over $75 million. The award was presented at the APWA Washington Spring Conference in Tacoma, WA.
Parametrix has worked in partnership with WSDOT on the SR 520 Floating Bridge project since 1998. The firm was responsible for leading the team in the planning, preliminary engineering and the NEPA Environmental Impact Statement for the project. Parametrix involvement has continued over the last decade as the principal partner with HDR in the final design and construction management for the SR 520 Floating Bridge Replacement project.
The SR 520 Floating Bridge is the longest floating bridge in the world and has received several other awards including the Grand Conceptor Award from ACEC in 2017, the Gold Award for Structural Systems from ACEC Washington in 2017, the 2040 Vision Award from the Puget Sound Regional Council in 2016, the Excellence in Design (Engineering) Award from DBIA in 2016, the National Award of Merit in Transportation from DBIA in 2016, and the Quality of Life/Community Development Award from WASHTO in 2016.
