what we do

Mitigating environmental concerns

Hydropower is the renewable energy source that produces the most electricity in the United States. For many years, Parametrix has helped utility companies provide this electricity while minimizing impacts to fish, natural resources, and water quality and temperature. We routinely help utilities comply with Federal Energy Regulatory Commision (FERC) licensing requirements.

Avista Corporation | Parametrix

Avista Corporation
Washington and Idaho

Client: Avista Corporation

Avista operates eight hydroelectric generating plants on the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene rivers. Since 2000, Parametrix has worked with Avista to evaluate the effects of its hydroelectric projects on water quality and fish populations and help with FERC relicensing. This has involved fish tagging and tracking of several species, developing and implementing monitoring programs, evaluating the biological effects of dissolved gas supersaturation, and exploring alternate ways to move fish past dams.
