what we do

Mitigating environmental concerns

Hydropower is the renewable energy source that produces the most electricity in the United States. For many years, Parametrix has helped utility companies provide this electricity while minimizing impacts to fish, natural resources, and water quality and temperature. We routinely help utilities comply with Federal Energy Regulatory Commision (FERC) licensing requirements.

Client: Grant County PUD

Since the early 1980s, Parametrix has provided fisheries and environmental consulting services and surveying in support of the PUD’s hydroelectric projects. A variety of monitoring and management efforts have been developed to protect fish, wildlife, and other natural and cultural resources. To meet FERC requirements, we completed a detailed review and field verified the PUD’s project boundary, originally surveyed in the 1950s. The project boundary encompasses 34,250 acres and approximately 35 square miles of impoundment in two reservoirs.
