This new 80,000-square-foot transfer station and recycling center was designed to be a LEED Gold facility and is a model for sustainable transfer station design. Parametrix provided construction and project management for the facility, acting on the County’s behalf. This involved project budgeting and reporting, preconstruction scheduling, value engineering, constructability reviews, project risk review, documentation and tracking, procurement support, construction observation, tracking and reporting, contractor pay requests, information management for construction services, and commissioning of a new transfer station. Parametrix also coordinated with the neighborhood and the City of Bellevue. We provided a review of the project prior to completion of the 30 percent design development and led a value engineering study which focused on the consideration of multiple options and alternative approaches for station development. The value engineering study provided a cost savings to the client of over $2 million.
