Trails & Non-Motorized Facilities

Providing safe, convenient routes for pedestrians and bicyclists

Non-motorized facilities weave our communities together, improve livability, and promote healthy lifestyles. Parametrix designs safe spaces dedicated to people and seamless connections to places where people live, work, and play.

Lehi Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan
Lehi, Utah
Client: Mountainland Association of Governments

The Lehi Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan designates future bike and pedestrian facilities in Lehi based on priorities identified by Lehi City and the public. Parametrix (formerly InterPlan) managed this study and led an extensive public involvement program. The study process involved defining goals and objectives, needs analysis for both walking and biking, and identifying the detailed components of a recommended network. Special attention was given to transit connections, a critical element of the plan as FrontRunner operations to Utah County were just beginning. We used a variety of tools to effectively elicit the desires of the community including visual preference surveys, keypad polling, and stakeholder surveys. Because the desires of the community were diverse and priorities of recreational and commuter bicyclists different, the plan shows a network that considers a range of user types. Lehi City has been able to use the plan very effectively when working with both commercial and residential developers and to help them understand how individual improvements benefit the entire multi-modal system.

“I wanted to thank you and the Parametrix team for the outstanding support you have provided the County on the East Lake Sammamish Trial Project. Parametrix’s complete understanding of the controversies surrounding the East Lake Sammamish Trail Project, the complexities in dealing with multiple jurisdictions, and the difficulties with regard to constraints surrounding the County’s budget has been critical in Parametrix and the County’s ability to identify and quantify risks associated with the project’s cost and schedule.”
