Safe Routes to Schools Action Plan
Las Vegas, New Mexico
Client: San Miguel County

Parametrix assisted San Miguel County and the Las Vegas City Schools to develop a Safe Routes to School Action Plan funded through NMDOT. The goal of the program was to collaborate with stakeholders to identify obstacles to walking and bicycling to school. We worked closely with educators, parents, students, local government staff, elected officials, health care providers, law enforcement officials, and the general public to collectively identify ways to improve the transportation system  to improve safety, mobility, and the overall quality of life for residents. We created Action Plans for Memorial Middle School and Legion Park Elementary School. These plans involved evaluation of existing infrastructure, mapping, analysis of local transportation data, implementation of school-wide parent and staff surveys, and the facilitation of numerous stakeholder and public meetings.

“I wanted to thank you and the Parametrix team for the outstanding support you have provided the County on the East Lake Sammamish Trial Project. Parametrix’s complete understanding of the controversies surrounding the East Lake Sammamish Trail Project, the complexities in dealing with multiple jurisdictions, and the difficulties with regard to constraints surrounding the County’s budget has been critical in Parametrix and the County’s ability to identify and quantify risks associated with the project’s cost and schedule.”
