what we do

Transit

Designing sustainable transportation solutions for livable communities

Transit systems improve livability, provide affordable mobility, manage congestion, and lower energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. From initial system planning and securing environmental approvals, through design and assistance with operations, Parametrix partners with agencies on all types of transit systems—commuter rail, light rail, heavy rail, bus rapid transit, streetcar, and ferry systems. Our staff regularly coordinates with FTA and has comprehensive knowledge of the New Starts program.

Client: Valley Regional Transit

Valley Regional Transit has 870 bus stops throughout the Treasure Valley area. Parametrix completed an assessment of existing conditions at all bus stops for ADA compliance. We created a database o document the deficiencies and prioritize improvement projects. Valley Regional Transit has constructed improvements at the highest priority locations and continues to receive funding based on the programmatic design approach prepared by Parametrix.

“I wanted to thank you and the Parametrix team for the outstanding support you have provided the County on the East Lake Sammamish Trial Project. Parametrix’s complete understanding of the controversies surrounding the East Lake Sammamish Trail Project, the complexities in dealing with multiple jurisdictions, and the difficulties with regard to constraints surrounding the County’s budget has been critical in Parametrix and the County’s ability to identify and quantify risks associated with the project’s cost and schedule.”
