what we do

Designing sustainable transportation solutions for livable communities

Transit systems improve livability, provide affordable mobility, manage congestion, and lower energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. From initial system planning and securing environmental approvals, through design and assistance with operations, Parametrix partners with agencies on all types of transit systems—commuter rail, light rail, heavy rail, bus rapid transit, streetcar, and ferry systems. Our staff regularly coordinates with FTA and has comprehensive knowledge of the New Starts program.

Ogden/Weber State University Transit Study
Ogden, Utah
Client: Utah Transit Authority
Partner: HDR Engineering

This study considered future transit alternatives and circulation between the Ogden Intermodal Center, the Central Business District, Weber State University, McKay-Dee Hospital and the communities in between. The project also considers potential economic development opportunities of both candidate corridors in order to support economic vitality and corridor revitalization efforts. The study is a cooperative effort among several partners—Utah Transit Authority, Ogden City, Weber State University, Intermountain Healthcare, Weber County, Wasatch Front Regional Council, and UDOT. Parametrix has provided transportation and traffic planning and is supporting the NEPA environmental assessment and preliminary engineering efforts that will fully evaluate potential impacts and identify mitigation measures if necessary. This study’s ultimate goal is to develop a Locally Preferred Alternative that will attract federal funding and subsequently advance for engineering and construction.

“I wanted to thank you and the Parametrix team for the outstanding support you have provided the County on the East Lake Sammamish Trial Project. Parametrix’s complete understanding of the controversies surrounding the East Lake Sammamish Trail Project, the complexities in dealing with multiple jurisdictions, and the difficulties with regard to constraints surrounding the County’s budget has been critical in Parametrix and the County’s ability to identify and quantify risks associated with the project’s cost and schedule.”
