tacoma-dome-link-extension-project-mapSeattle, WA – The team led by HDR with Parametrix as the major team partner will begin work to provide environmental and preliminary engineering services for Sound Transit’s Tacoma Dome Link Extension.

The project, which will connect Pierce and South King County residents to the regional light rail network, includes 9.7 miles of light rail with four stations in South Federal Way, Fife, East Tacoma, and the Tacoma Dome, as well as a new operations and maintenance facility.

This project is part of the first wave of the Sound Transit 3 (ST3) initiative approved by voters in November 2016 which will connect light rail service from Tacoma to Seattle and further north. Innovative delivery strategies will be used to meet the budget and schedules laid out in ST3.

The Tacoma Dome Link Extension will open for service in 2030 and is projected to have an average of 27,000 – 37,000 daily riders by 2040.

Parametrix’s John Perlic, PE will serve as the project planning lead and Daryl Wendle will be the environmental lead.
