04.09.18 NM-159 Mogollon Project Receives Engineering Excellence Award
Albuquerque, NM – Parametrix received an Engineering Excellence Award from the New Mexico Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for their work on the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s NM-159 Drainage and Roadway Project in Mogollon, NM.
Following a major flood in September 2013, NM-159 and associated drainage structures were heavily damaged, and in most areas completely washed out. As a result, access to the historic mining town and the surrounding Gila National Forest was severely limited and the roadway needed to be re-established to provide safe, permanent access for area residents, tourists, and the traveling public.
Parametrix designed the improvements and provided right-of-way and survey, drainage, geotechnical analysis and reporting, environmental compliance, and public involvement. Due to federal Emergency Relief (ER) funding requirements, Parametrix had nine months to design the new roadway and to obtain all required environmental permits and approvals.
The Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) are presented annually by ACEC New Mexico to recognize engineering achievements and to demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. The awards pay tribute to New Mexico’s most prestigious and distinguished engineering projects.
