The Port of Morrow is one of Oregon’s largest industrial ports, managing and reusing more than 2.7 billion gallons of industrial wastewater each year from food processors, data centers, and other industries. Parametrix is supporting the Port with system planning, engineering analysis, permitting support, and coordination with regulators and stakeholders to ensure reliable operations and long term compliance.
Parametrix evaluated the hydraulic and nutrient capacity of the Port’s water reuse and land application system under a range of treatment and operational scenarios. This work focused on understanding nitrogen loading and balance in relation to crop types, climate conditions, seasonal constraints, and irrigation practices, with the objective of maintaining sustainable nutrient application rates that are protective of soil, crops, and groundwater and compliant with Oregon Department of Environmental Quality requirements.
To support public involvement and transparency, Parametrix developed clear, easy-to-understand graphics that explain how the industrial wastewater treatment and reuse system functions and how it supports both Port operations and local agricultural users.
