Intern Spotlight: Ben Mellott

Share

We’re thrilled to have several interns joining us at Parametrix this summer! We strive to provide challenging, hands-on project experience to students entering our industry. Inspiring young professionals early in their career is critical for the future of our profession and for our purpose of restoring the health of the planet for future generations.

Meet Ben Mellott, an intern with our Bremerton Environmental Planning and Compliance team. He is from University Place, WA and is attending Georgia Tech and Covenant College as part of a five-year dual-degree program. He plans to graduate in Spring 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Why did you choose an internship at Parametrix?

Parametrix is a well-respected firm in the consulting world of the Puget Sound region and beyond, with wonderful people and an excellent work culture. Other consulting professionals I know in the area have recommended interning at Parametrix, so I was thrilled when I was accepted to work with Bremerton’s Environmental Planning and Compliance division!

What would you like to accomplish during your internship?

I would like to gain exposure to as many types of projects as possible in the time I have, as well as become more fluent in using CAD, while hopefully being a help to other Parametrix engineers by taking small tasks for them so that they can focus on core project objectives.

What is your ultimate career goal?

I would like to get my Professional Engineer license in the years immediately after I graduate and work for a consulting firm (preferably Parametrix!) for the foreseeable future. I am not really sure beyond that at this point, but I am excited for what the future holds!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy competitive distance running (cross country and track), as well as playing violin and writing music, songs, and poetry.
