The Crooked River Ranch water system provides water to more than 1,500 homes and commercial properties on Crooked River Ranch — a rural residential, recreational, and commercial community in Central Oregon. Over the years, as more homes and businesses were added, the aging system couldn’t keep up with demand. A water system master plan identified low water pressure, inadequate storage, and under-performing production wells as the primary deficiencies.
This project included planning and design of a new one-million-gallon water tank and 1,100-foot deep production well, as well as a new SCADA system that would integrate the two existing wells and a cistern with the new tank and well. The new 120-foot-tall composite elevated tank relies on gravity to feed water to the system. Nearly all homes are now receiving 45 psi water pressure. The community is very happy with the increased water pressure. On the day the tank was hoisted into place, many from the community came out to watch and celebrate. The engineering team tackled challenges and simplified very complex processes. As a result, the CRRWC general manager, Frank Day, says “The system just works!”
