The Robinson Road Corridor will play a key role in the growth of the Treasure Valley area of southwestern Idaho over the next 20 years. The road is anticipated to carry a significant portion of the traffic volume generated by new connections with SH-16 and I-84. Nampa Highway District No. 1 and City of Nampa are completing this corridor study to develop improvement concepts that support context-sensitive improvements that are convenient and safe travel for all travelers, including cars, freight haulers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Parametrix is working with the highway district and city to prepare concept-level designs, including typical sections, lane configurations, alignments, right-of-way requirements, concept-level construction cost estimates, and develop an implementation plan aim at identifying construction priority.

The project team held an online open house that generated over 671 views and over 51 responses – an impressive response from a small community. Visualizations created by Parametrix allowed residents to swipe between current conditions and proposed improvements. The renderings effectively demonstrated the need for improvements to accommodate future growth.

Proposed improvements include:

• • Pavement improvements that includes additional travel lanes along the corridor

• • Shared-use paths to facilitate safe pedestrian and bicycle travel along the road

• • Buffers to create physical space between traffic and shared-use paths

• • Curb and gutter in the urban areas to support drainage

• • Wider gravel shoulder in the rural areas
