The baggage optimization program at Sea-Tac International Airport is replacing aging equipment in stages throughout the airport. The improvements will improve the efficiency of each component of the overall system. Parametrix has provided construction management services to complement the Port’s construction management and blended consultant team. Our services have included oversight of change management processes; workorder sequencing against the baseline schedule; site walks and investigations with Port stakeholders; field inspection; scheduling construction shut downs for utility and systems connections and review of tie-in sequencing to major utilities and other support projects in the existing facility; coordination of existing and new programmable logic controllers for each phase; establishing start-stop logic and speed of conveyors during activation for new baggage systems; reviewing design change submittals; processing RFIs and construction submittals; and reviewing and approving contractor pay applications. Throughout commissioning and activation, the projects have remained on schedule without causing disruptions to the Port’s overall baggage operations.
