New Bellevue Connector Bridge Opens to Public

A ribbon cutting was held signifying the opening of the Northup Way Connector. Parametrix worked with Eastrail Partners to provide design and construction management for this progressive design-build project.

The 400-foot-long bridge connects the Eastrail with the 520 Trail. Previously, the two trails crossed over one another, creating a 20-foot vertical grade separation. The new connector provides a safe way for pedestrians, bikers, and rollerbladers to navigate between the two trails.

The project broke ground in summer 2023 and work was completed on time and under budget. A unique public-private partnership was formed between King County Parks and Eastrail Partners. Funding for the project came from Meta, REI, and last-in funding secured by King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci.

“This exciting project would not have been possible without the leadership of our construction and engineering partners at Parametrix and Zemek Construction, who helped the vision for this project become a reality,” stated a newsletter from Eastrail.
