The Quincy Square project, named after 27-time Grammy award winning music producer Quincy Jones, will reshape the City of Bremerton’s downtown arts district. The project includes reconstructing a 760-foot-long block on 4th street between Washington Avenue and Pacific Avenue, just a couple blocks over from Parametrix’s Bremerton office.

Quincy Jones spent part of his teenage years in Bremerton, his father being a shipyard worker. During an interview with Stephen Colbert, Jones spoke of finding his love for music in Bremerton. This interview sparked public interest to dedicate the reconstruction of the 200 block of 4th street in his honor. In a letter to the Bremerton City Council and residents, Jones stated “I would be honored and humbled to have my name grace the city’s new downtown district.”

The project will contribute to the greater revitalization plan of the Bremerton marina. The roadway reconstruction will accommodate a pedestrian plaza that can be closed to traffic for public events. The plaza will include pedestrian sidewalks with ADA-compliant curb ramps, parking reconfiguration, permanent street furniture, landscaping, festive lighting, and an outdoor semi-permanent stage.
