Portland, OR – The City of Portland has awarded Parametrix Silver Status in the Sustainability at Work program. This status was achieved by implementing at least 25 actions to improve sustainability in the workplace such as composting food scraps, using alternative transportation modes, and having a social responsibility mission statement.

The program matches Portland businesses with an advisor from the City who works directly with employees. According to the Sustainability at Work web page, advisors help with resources, cost efficiency, and help establish “a healthy and quality workspace for employees.” The program includes different levels of certification based on “points” earned by creating sustainable practices in the workplace.

Parametrix was awarded 38 points for their sustainable actions, just shy of the 45 needed for gold status. Emily McKernan, member of Parametrix’s Sustainability Committee stated that the team “is looking forward to achieving gold status the next go around.”

The City lists all local businesses who have become certified through the program on their Green Business Directory.
