Salt Lake City, UT – The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has awarded a contract to Parametrix to study alternatives to extend high-capacity transit from Draper to Lehi.

Currently, two routes are being discussed. One would feature transit along an existing corridor owned by UTA. The other would be west to South Jordan and then Lehi. The proposed transit corridor would provide service to land slated for redevelopment at the Utah State Prison as well as the growing high-tech area in Lehi known as Silicon Slopes. Additional routes will be contemplated as the project moves forward.

Parametrix will be working with project partners and stakeholders to consider the appropriate mode, alignment, and stations needed to enhance transit from Sandy and Draper into northern Utah County and Lehi. The study will evaluate cost, ridership, travel time, environmental impacts, and other factors, and will take a little over a year to complete.

“We look forward to building on the region’s legacy of providing high quality transit investments and helping the project to connect communities and the region,” stated Deputy Project Manager, Claire Woodman, AICP of Parametrix.
