San Diego, CA – Craig Shannon, PE, Vice President and California Regional Leader at Parametrix, has been elected as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Region 9 Governor. He will serve a three-year term starting October 1, 2024.
The American Society of Civil Engineers was founded in 1852 and includes more than 160,000 professionals in 177 countries. ASCE Region 9 includes sections in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco, CA.
Craig Shannon has been an active member of ASCE since 2002. He has served in various leadership roles with the organization, most recently as California Infrastructure Symposium Programs Chair. He has also served as president, vice president, secretary, and multiple director positions with ASCE San Diego section. In 2022, he received the “ASCE Outstanding Civil Engineer in the Private Sector” award.
In his vision statement, Mr. Shannon says, “Civil engineers play a vital role in leading the development of resilient, smart, and sustainable cities of the future. We must adapt to the changing times to stay relevant and grab the interest of the future generations entering college.” He adds that to achieve this vision, “we must promote our commitment to being ethical with respect to our profession and practice tolerance, respect, and inclusivity.”
