Seattle, WA – On Thursday, October 6, 2022 the American Public Works Association (APWA) Washington Chapter held their annual “Night of Excellence” award ceremony in Spokane, WA. Individual awards are given to “long-time service leaders quietly making change in our communities.” Parametrix’s Brenna Harrington, PE and Dan McReynolds, PE, PMP were recognized for their dedication to public works.

Brenna Harrington received the Young Leader Award, which recognizes young public works leaders who demonstrate commitment to the profession and show potential for future growth with APWA. The winner of this award receives a scholarship to attend the National Congress.

Harrington joined Parametrix in June 2022 and is part of the Puget Sound Transportation team. She has six years of industry experience and has served as the APWA Washington Emerging Professionals Committee Chair since 2018. She has also played a role in planning APWA Washington Conferences and helped to launch a new mentorship program.

In her acceptance speech, Harrington said, “it boils down to one word that we’ve heard a lot lately, which is community. From my first conference as a young engineer fresh out of college it was very obvious that there is a very special community here. There’s so much comradery and enthusiasm around this industry and that’s very energizing for a young professional.”

Dan McReynolds received the Roy W. Morse Award, which recognizes outstanding technical or professional accomplishments in public works. This is known as the chapter’s most prestigious award.

McReynolds has been with Parametrix for 32 years of his 39-year career. He serves as a Senior Consultant with the Puget Sound Transportation team and has been responsible for delivering a variety of infrastructure projects throughout the region, including highways, transit centers, levees, downtown revitalizations, roundabouts, fish passage barrier removals, and more.

He has been an active member of APWA since 1993 and currently serves as Chair of the Transportation Committee.

He is known by his fellow employee-owners as “a selfless leader whose personal philosophy puts service above self. He is sought by many as a mentor and role model.”

In his acceptance speech he stated, “in public works, individual success is an oxymoron. I don’t think there is any such thing. Even the smallest project we deliver takes dozens of individuals pulling together to get to the finish line.”
