Portland, OR – Parametrix has expanded its surface water and restoration practice, establishing an Oregon/Idaho Water Division. The firm has provided water services since its inception in 1969. The division will offer multi-disciplinary services that support complex, multiple-benefit restoration and stormwater projects at the intersection of built and natural environments.
Darlene Siegel, who joined the firm in 2023, will lead the practice. She brings over two decades of experience managing ecosystem restoration and surface water infrastructure projects. The practice is comprised of ten professionals specializing in restoration sciences and design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, sediment transport analysis, salmon recovery, stormwater, and floodplain management.
The move to create a formalized surface water and restoration practice comes after making strategic hires that include Senior Geomorphologist Tom Smrdel, Senior River Engineer Julie Ash, and Senior Hydraulic Engineer Stu Trabant. These three expand the firm’s geomorphology, process-based restoration, and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses expertise.
The division will offer standalone surface water and restoration services to public agencies, water conservation districts, private landowners, and non-profit advocates in the Oregon/Idaho region.

“We look forward to partnering with our clients to deliver resilient, multiple benefit projects that enhance our region and align with the Parametrix purpose to ‘help clients and partners create vibrant, sustainable communities and restore the health of our planet for future generations’,” said Siegel.
