Seattle, WA – King County Metro Transit (Metro) has selected Parametrix to provide engineering and related services for the agency’s transit system electrification plan. Metro operates the seventh largest fleet in the United States, consisting of nearly 1,500 diesel-hybrid, battery electric, and trolley buses. The agency plans to have a zero-emission fleet no later than 2040.

Metro will formalize their transit electrification plan to provide more inclusive and equitable transit access and ensure consensus within the organization and between agency partners throughout the entire service area.

From 2016 to 2020, Parametrix worked with Metro to begin implementation of a battery electric bus program, which was a fundamental effort toward realizing the county’s zero-emission fleet goals.

Project partners include Coffman Engineers, Concord Engineering, DKS Associates, Glumac, HDR, HWA GeoSciences, Integrated Design Engineers, Jarrett Walker + Associates, Microgrid Labs, Triunity Engineering & Management, and Yates Consulting.
