Battery Electric Bus Charging Infrastructure

King County is progressing toward a 100% zero emission fleet by 2040. As existing diesel hybrid and older diesel-only buses are retired, Metro is replacing them with battery-electric buses. This program will implement up to 11 new quick-charging battery-electric bus charging stations at locations throughout Metro’s service area. Metro is also developing future strategies and assessing implementation of a larger, long-range electric bus fleet.

Working with King County, Parametrix provided planning, engineering, cross-discipline/department coordination, power service and electrical engineering, sustainability assessments, cost estimating, scheduling, and project control services to facilitate the transition. To date, we have worked on bus rapid charging stations at the Eastgate Park-and-Ride, Redmond Transit Center, South Base, and Bellevue Base.
