I-40/Zuzax Bridge Replacement

To help the New Mexico Department of Transportation District 3 meet its letting schedule, Parametrix completed the PS&E design for the I-40/Zuzax interchange reconstruction. Bridge plans by others were incorporated into the plan set, and Parametrix staff reviewed the entire design prior to the PS&E submittal. The review resulted in several important changes, including shifting the bridge by one foot so the pier would fit in the I-40 median as intended as well as preparing a design variance. The project included design of a box culvert bridge for the crossroad over the Tijeras Arroyo. Traffic control plans for I-40 were prepared, with two-lane traffic maintained in each direction and closures restricted. Parametrix also provided Phase III services during construction.
