SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program

The $5-billion SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program completely rebuilds, expands, and modernizes the SR 520 freeway and bridges from I-405 across Lake Washington to I-5 and South Lake Union, while maintaining service on the existing facility.

Major phases and projects include:

  • Full program preliminary engineering and NEPA/SEPA environmental approval
  • Program strategic planning (defining phasing, funding, and implementation)
  • SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Design-Build Project
  • SR 520 Montlake Interchange to Lake Washington Design-Build Project

  • Portage Bay and 2nd Montlake Bascule Bridges, I-5 and Montlake interchanges, and the North Capitol Hill and Montlake Lids
  • Bridge and Pontoon Casting Yard, Grays Harbor County
