Albuquerque, NM – Engineering News Record Southwest has released their 2021 list of top design firms based on revenue generated in 2020. Parametrix was ranked 39 this year, up from 44 in 2020. The list includes firms in New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona. Parametrix has 48 staff in the Southwest region, including 8 professional engineers based out of offices in Albuquerque, NM and Las Vegas, NV. The firm’s largest project to break ground in 2020 was the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s U.S. 550 Phase 2 project in Sandoval County, NM with a construction cost of $23.8 million. In 2020, Parametrix’s Southwest region office generated $6.88 million in design revenue. Nearly 90% of that revenue came from transportation projects, 2% from water supply, and the remaining percentage from other projects. Parametrix’s Albuquerque office includes 35 staff providing services in transportation, environmental planning and compliance, archaeology, cultural resources, ethnography, and survey. The Solar Decathlon is “a collegiate competition that challenges the next generation of building professionals to design and construct high-performance, low-carbon buildings powered by renewable energy.” 72 teams representing 12 countries competed.Parametrix employee-owner, Osarodion Victory Igbinobaro, was part of the University of Nevada – Las Vegas team that received 3rd place overall. They also placed 1st in Operations and Presentation, received 2nd place in Innovation, and tied for 2nd place in Energy Performance. Igbinobaro led the creation of an interactive virtual 3D model of the project that gave judges an immersive experience.The team designed a solar powered, energy-efficient home for veterans, called Mojave Bloom. The home is designed specifically for veterans who have been injured or who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Mojave Bloom is currently under construction next to the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden. It is expected to be complete next month. The project is funded by sponsors, donations, and volunteer labor as well as a grant from the Department of Energy. Igbinobaro joined Parametrix in August 2020 as part of the Civil FX team. He was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States in 2017 as an international transfer undergraduate student. He holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from University of Nevada – Las Vegas and is currently pursuing a Master of Architecture. His areas of expertise include design, CAD, BIM, real-time 3D visualization, 3D modelling, 3D printing, and digital fabrication.
