Boise, ID – This week, the Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands announced that funding and permitting has been secured to replace the Plantation Island Bridge between Boise and Garden City. Two years ago, high flows on the Boise River threatened the bridge and it had to be removed. Once restored, the bridge will create much desired connectivity for the Boise River Greenbelt Pathway. The bridge site where the abutment remains. As part of the permitting and design process to repair the bridge abutments and restore the deteriorated pathway, employee-owners in Parametrix’s Boise Survey group donated professional services and survey equipment necessary to gather existing site conditions and prepare a topographic survey. Mike Celt, PLS, CFedS, Parametrix’s Boise Office Survey Manager, was excited to be a part of the restoration project, which was nearly entirely funded by private donations. Judy Peavey-Derr, a board member for the foundation, said in a news release “When we publicized the need for private donations, we were overwhelmed with the community’s generosity. It’s just been a wonderful partnership project. Everyone loves the Greenbelt!” Mike Celt had a personal desire to be involved in the project. “My mother and father in-law have recently moved to Boise and live near the Boise River, just upstream from the Plantation Island bridge” said Mike. “They love using the Greenbelt Pathway year-round and when we heard of fundraising efforts for the bridge restoration, I wanted to see what I could do to help out.” The bridge is set to be open by early April. Puyallup, WA – The City of Sumner has selected Parametrix to provide construction administration for the State Route 410/Traffic Avenue Interchange improvements project. 02.01.19 Prineville Airport Industrial Park Project Receives Engineering Excellence Award

Pipe installation on a steep slope with air/vacuum release vault and upstream valves to protect pipeline from collapsing.Portland, OR – Parametrix has received an Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Oregon for their work on the City of Prineville’s Airport Industrial Park utility extension project. According to the awards organization, “The Engineering Excellence Awards Competition recognizes engineering firms for projects that demonstrate an exceptional degree of innovation, complexity, achievement and value.” The construction of several large data centers in Prineville had pushed the City’s existing water and sewer systems to near capacity. With another data center set to come online, the City needed to go from concept stage to operational water and sewer system in less than a year. Using a progressive design-build method, the team was able to go from design to completion in eight months. This project marked the first time the progressive design-build method was used on a public project in Central Oregon. The City partnered with Parametrix as the design engineer and Taylor NW as the contractor. Members of the project team accept the ACEC Oregon award on January 16.Progressive design-build made it so the project could begin quickly, allowing continued progress on new data centers. Parametrix Project Manager Niall Boggs, PE described the partnership, stating, “The relationships that were developed fostered trust and allowed us to bring forward innovative ideas that addressed significant project challenges.” One of those challenges was the location of the project site. Airport Industrial Park is on a plateau above town and a total of more than 30,000 linear feet of piping had to be constructed down more than 400 vertical feet of steep, rocky slopes. City of Prineville Public Works Director Eric Klann echoed Boggs’ sentiments of the team dynamic, stating, “As our relationship with Parametrix and Taylor NW grew, a true partnership formed.” Klann went on to applaud the work of the team, “Parametrix proved to be creative and flexible. The team’s efforts, experience, and dedication to the City of Prineville have been outstanding.” About Parametrix Parametrix is a 100-percent employee-owned firm celebrating 50 years in business.
