Bremerton, WA – The City of Poulsbo’s SR 305 Johnson Parkway project received the American Public Works Association’s (APWA) Transportation Project of the Year in the small cities/rural communities category. The award was presented during the PWX Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on September 9.

The project opened to the public on June 17, 2023. Earlier this year, it was recognized by APWA Washington as Project of the Year in the Transportation small agency between $5 million to $25 million category.

APWA selects projects that promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects, recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the contractor, the consultant, and their cooperative achievements.

Johnson Parkway serves the city’s east urban area and provides a regional connection for the city and North Kitsap County between SR 305 and NE Lincoln Road. The project, which included a new roundabout and non-motorized tunnel, ensures public safety and promotes regional economic vitality, quality of life, the importance of the environment, and the diversity of citizens through essential public infrastructure.

Parametrix was the primary consultant to the City of Poulsbo for the project.
