Parametrix Adds Four More Transportation Engineering and Structural Staff in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, UT – Parametrix has added four new staff in their Salt Lake City office, expanding the firm’s southwest region structural and roadway engineering capabilities. This comes after the addition of four staff last month. Michael Oldroyd, PE joins as Utah Roadway and Structures Group Lead, Adam Birdsall, PE, joins as Utah Structures Lead, Stacey Oliveto joins as CADD Technical Lead, and Brittany Payan, PE will support the team as a Roadway Engineer.Oldroyd has 21 years of experience in highway and roadway design, railroad design, construction management, and inspection. He has worked with local, state, and federal governments on projects in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, California, Texas, and Montana. Recent project experience includes SR-39 Dual Lefts at Washington Boulevard in Roy, UT, I-15 Weber County Expressway, UT, and US-40; Gusher EB Passing Lane & Center Turn Lane  in Uintah County, UT. Birdsall has 14 years of experience as a structural design engineer working on a wide variety of projects in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, California, and Wyoming. He has worked in the private sector as a design consultant as well as the public sector as a project engineer. His experience includes a tunnel project under the Chesapeake Bay, a freeway widening through Weber and Davis counties in northern Utah, and a flood control project in California. Oliveto has over 20 years of experience in the drafting field. She is experienced in the civil and transportation disciplines, as well as landscaping, mining, structural, and mechanical fields. She has provided as-built packages for two of the largest rail projects in Utah.  Payan has 5 years of roadway design civil engineering experience.  She has experience drafting, designing, and modeling numerous roadway and roadside projects in Utah, Colorado, and Washington. Lake to Sound Trail Receives Social, Economic, and Sustainable Design Award

Seattle, WA – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington hosted their annual Engineering Excellence Awards program virtually on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Fifteen projects were honored in this year’s program.King County Park’s Lake to Sound Trail Segment A project, submitted by Parametrix, received a Gold award in the Social, Economic, and Sustainable Design category.This segment of the trail opened to the public in February 2020. The completion of this 1.1-mile-long segment fills an essential missing link within the overall corridor. When complete, the non-motorized, multi-use recreational trail and alternative transportation corridor will be 16-miles long, spanning from the south end of Lake Washington in Renton, WA all the way to the shoreline of Puget Sound in Des Moines, WA. It will directly connect five cities in a traditionally underserved area of South King County and provide access throughout the region with safe connections to other major regional trails and transit facilitiesThe trail is designed to accommodate people of all ages and abilities with a 12-foot-wide asphalt surface, 2-foot soft surface shoulders and 1-foot clear zones on each side of the trail. Other design elements include retaining walls, bridges, intersections/traffic controls, improved drainage systems, culverts, bollards, native landscaping, art, and other trail amenities.Parametrix was initially hired by King County Parks to study the feasibility and select a route for the entire trail. For Segment A, Parametrix was the prime consultant responsible for project management, design of the trail, civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and construction management. He is also experienced in urban roadway reconstruction and rural highway and interstate highway design. He has provided management, design oversight, and quality assurance for projects in Utah, Texas, Montana, and Idaho. Recently, he has been involved with several Utah Department of Transportation projects, including SR-102 from I-84 to SR-13 in Box Elder County, I-15 Weber Express Lanes in Davis County, and US-40 Gusher EB Passing Lane & Center Turn Lane in Uintah County.Sainsbury has 3 years of roadway design and civil engineering experience as a project engineer. He has designed roadways associated with several Utah Department of Transportation projects.Bingham has 10 years of experience, including construction and inspection of highway projects.
