Parametrix Employee-Owner Part of 3rd Place Team at U.S. Dept. of Energy Solar Decathlon

Las Vegas, NV – On Sunday, April 18 the winners of the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon were announced. The Solar Decathlon is “a collegiate competition that challenges the next generation of building professionals to design and construct high-performance, low-carbon buildings powered by renewable energy.” 72 teams representing 12 countries competed.Parametrix employee-owner, Osarodion Victory Igbinobaro, was part of the University of Nevada – Las Vegas team that received 3rd place overall. They also placed 1st in Operations and Presentation, received 2nd place in Innovation, and tied for 2nd place in Energy Performance. Igbinobaro led the creation of an interactive virtual 3D model of the project that gave judges an immersive experience.The team designed a solar powered, energy-efficient home for veterans, called Mojave Bloom. The home is designed specifically for veterans who have been injured or who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Mojave Bloom is currently under construction next to the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden. It is expected to be complete next month. The project is funded by sponsors, donations, and volunteer labor as well as a grant from the Department of Energy. Igbinobaro joined Parametrix in August 2020 as part of the Civil FX team. He was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States in 2017 as an international transfer undergraduate student. He holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from University of Nevada – Las Vegas and is currently pursuing a Master of Architecture. His areas of expertise include design, CAD, BIM, real-time 3D visualization, 3D modelling, 3D printing, and digital fabrication. Parametrix Adds Four More Transportation Engineering and Structural Staff in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, UT – Parametrix has added four new staff in their Salt Lake City office, expanding the firm’s southwest region structural and roadway engineering capabilities. This comes after the addition of four staff last month. Michael Oldroyd, PE joins as Utah Roadway and Structures Group Lead, Adam Birdsall, PE, joins as Utah Structures Lead, Stacey Oliveto joins as CADD Technical Lead, and Brittany Payan, PE will support the team as a Roadway Engineer.Oldroyd has 21 years of experience in highway and roadway design, railroad design, construction management, and inspection. He has worked with local, state, and federal governments on projects in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, California, Texas, and Montana. Recent project experience includes SR-39 Dual Lefts at Washington Boulevard in Roy, UT, I-15 Weber County Expressway, UT, and US-40; Gusher EB Passing Lane & Center Turn Lane  in Uintah County, UT. Birdsall has 14 years of experience as a structural design engineer working on a wide variety of projects in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, California, and Wyoming. He has worked in the private sector as a design consultant as well as the public sector as a project engineer. His experience includes a tunnel project under the Chesapeake Bay, a freeway widening through Weber and Davis counties in northern Utah, and a flood control project in California. Oliveto has over 20 years of experience in the drafting field. She is experienced in the civil and transportation disciplines, as well as landscaping, mining, structural, and mechanical fields.
