Parametrix Adds Cultural Resources Staff in Boise

Boise, ID – Three cultural resources specialists have joined Parametrix’s Boise office, which includes 25 staff providing transportation planning and design, survey, environmental, and general engineering services.Jillian Martin joins Parametrix as a Senior Cultural Resources Specialist with 18 years of experience conducting archaeological and built resource investigations throughout Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.She is experienced in the administration and management of cultural resources projects, which includes compilation of cultural resource reports according to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. Her experience also includes Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966 evaluations, precontact and historic site excavations, artifact recordation and preservation, geographic information systems mapping, supervision of intensive and reconnaissance pedestrian field surveys, and archaeological construction monitoring in culturally sensitive areas.Martin has worked with a variety of clients including the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), local highway districts, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), private wind energy developers, and private construction companiesNiki Nickoloff joins Parametrix as a Senior Cultural Resources Specialist with 15 years of experience supervising and conducting field surveys for cultural resource investigations throughout Idaho and Oregon, prehistoric and historic site excavation, and site recordation. Hailey Brey Receives Washington State Trails Coalition Emerging Leader Award

Hailey Brey, Parametrix (Emerging Leader Award); Alan Carter Mortimer, Washington Trails Association (Lifetime Service Award); Yvonne Kraus, Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance (Trail Leader Award); Canyon Creek Downhill (Outstanding Trail Award)Seattle, WA – Hailey Brey is a Transit/Active Transportation Planner based in Seattle, WA who joined Parametrix in 2020. Through her volunteer work with Leafline Trails Coalition over the last couple of years, she is making an impact to trails in the region. She helped launch a Map Vision and maintains the dataset that will help to cohesively connect Central Puget Sound through over 900 miles of trails. On October 28, 2022, Brey was recognized at the Washington State Trails Coalition Conference with the 2022 Emerging Leader Award. This award honors an emerging leader who has distinguished themselves with a significant, positive contribution to any aspect of Washington trails over the last two years.Parametrix was a sponsor of the conference. Fred Young, another Parametrix active transportation planner, facilitated a panel discussion about the synergy between trails and transit. Panel members included Philip Harris (Washington State Department of Transportation), Alex Krieg (Sound Transit), and Monica Thompson (City of Lynnwood). Brey also presented alongside Gabriel Avila-Mooney, Terry Jungman, and Claire Martini on the work they have done with Leafline Trails Coalition.Brey holds a degree in Urban Geography from the University of Texas at Austin. As a Transit/Active transportation Planner, she looks for ways to illustrate a geography’s story through a syntheses of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis and graphic design. She has worked on transit and active transportation access projects across Washington and Oregon. Claire Martini, Director of Leafline Trails Coalition, and Hailey stand in front of their presentation board.In February 2021 she began volunteering with the Leafline Trails Coalition to develop a comprehensive regional trail dataset. Over a year and a half, Brey dedicated her time and mapping skills to collecting data and mapping trail routes throughout Puget Sound alongside a small technical team that included Gabriel Avila-Mooney (King County Parks), Terry Jungman (City of Kent), Claire Martini (Leafline Trails Coalition) and Amy Taylor (City of Maple Valley). When the Leafline Trails Coalition officially launched the Map Vision in June of 2022, it marked the first coordinated effort to create a shared map of the trail network spanning jurisdictional boundaries across Puget Sound. “I did not realize until the last few months what a valuable tool this map will be for our clients, partners, and others across the industry as we grow our network of trails across the region. Parametrix to Support Washington State Department of Transportation with Fish Barrier Removals

Seattle, WA – Parametrix has been selected as part of the team to review and assess the scope of upcoming fish barrier removals for the Washington State Department of Transportation. The team will complete field investigations to improve the collective understanding of each fish crossing, including hydraulics, geomorphology, biology, road and structure design, constructability, and complexity.This work will improve the planning of future phases as the Washington State Department of Transportation continues to deliver access for salmonids to critical spawning and rearing habitats. Parametrix will serve as a subconsultant to HDR, providing project management, transportation planning and design, environmental planning, and more. The team also includes HWA, Ott-Sakai, Natural System Design, Northwest Watersheds, EES, and Anchor QEA.This work is part of the 2013 injunction to open 90 percent of the target fish habitat in by 2030. Parametrix Employee-Owners Receive APWA Excellence Awards

Seattle, WA – On Thursday, October 6, 2022 the American Public Works Association (APWA) Washington Chapter held their annual “Night of Excellence” award ceremony in Spokane, WA. Individual awards are given to “long-time service leaders quietly making change in our communities.” Parametrix’s Brenna Harrington, PE and Dan McReynolds, PE, PMP were recognized for their dedication to public works.Brenna Harrington received the Young Leader Award, which recognizes young public works leaders who demonstrate commitment to the profession and show potential for future growth with APWA. The winner of this award receives a scholarship to attend the National Congress. Harrington joined Parametrix in June 2022 and is part of the Puget Sound Transportation team. She has six years of industry experience and has served as the APWA Washington Emerging Professionals Committee Chair since 2018. She has also played a role in planning APWA Washington Conferences and helped to launch a new mentorship program.In her acceptance speech, Harrington said, “it boils down to one word that we’ve heard a lot lately, which is community. From my first conference as a young engineer fresh out of college it was very obvious that there is a very special community here. There’s so much comradery and enthusiasm around this industry and that’s very energizing for a young professional.”Dan McReynolds received the Roy W. Morse Award, which recognizes outstanding technical or professional accomplishments in public works. This is known as the chapter’s most prestigious award.McReynolds has been with Parametrix for 32 years of his 39-year career.
